Teaching my son about harvesting

Hi! I’m Whitney.  I am a student at the Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH), where I am studying Therapeutic Herbalism and will earn my Master of Science, with a concentration in herbal product design.

I am an herbalist, aromatherapist, and plant nerd.  I hold certificates in Natural Products Manufacturing (CNPM), Herbal Retail Management (CHRM), and Aromatherapy (CA) from the American College of Healthcare Science (ACHS).  In addition to the formal education, I have years of experience with aromatherapy and product formulation. It’s kind of my thing.

I spent eight years as a Spanish and Portuguese translator in the United States Navy.  I have a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies from American Military University (AMU), an Associate of Arts in Spanish from the Defense Language Institute, and an Associates of Art from Pensacola Junior College. Additionally, I hold a Paralegal Certificate from AMU. It clearly took me a long time to figure out what I was passionate about, but I finally found it.

My unique (odd?) mix of experiences, skills, and education make me different than many of my counterparts.  I am naturally skeptical and tend to question everything, manmade and natural.  I have a strong desire to create scientifically sound products that blend modern technology with the best that Mother Nature has to offer.  My short term goals are to complete my Master of Science and contribute to research in the field.  My long term goals are to run my own herb farm, create exquisite botanically-based products, get published, and educate others on herbal medicine.
